Venu Nagali

Venu Nagali joined Flagship Pioneering in 2023. He works with Flagship company leadership and Pioneering Business Units to maximize value and lower cost by developing platform and product portfolio strategies, and by mitigating potential risks.

Venu brings broad expertise in strategy and business development, finance, operations, and risk management. He has held leadership positions in biotech, management consulting, and high technology companies.

Before joining Flagship, Venu was Vice President of Strategy, Alliance Management, Finance and Value Creation at Alexion Pharmaceuticals. He helped develop Alexion’s refocused corporate strategy designed to diversify the company’s business model. He also initiated and led the development of therapeutic area and business development strategiesand worked to execute 11 partnering, acquisition, and out-licensing business development transactions. Prior to Alexion, Venu was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company where he advised C-Level pharmaceutical, biotech, and other industrial clients on risk-based strategies to maximize value creation. Venu previously worked at Hewlett-Packard Company where he was one of 50 HP Fellows andwhere he pioneered the Procurement Risk Management program and enabled over $500M in cost savings. Venu started his career co-founding Vivecon, a venture-backed software company. He holds fourUS Patents in predictive analytics and software for risk management.

Venu completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Economic Systems & Operations Research from Stanford University.
