Theron Harpole

Theron Harpole joined Flagship Pioneering in January 2023 as Senior Director Facilities and GMP Engineering Operations on the Real Estate Operations Team. Theron is responsible for bridging engineering and facilities operations across multiple Flagship sites in Greater Boston. He is primarily responsible for all building systems engineering including energy management, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Prior to joining Flagship, Theron worked at Repertoire Immune Medicines as the Head of Facilities and Lab Operations and at Biogen leading the Facilities and Maintenance teams for the GMP operations. Theron helped launch a spin off from Biogen, Bioverativ and led that company’s global real estate and operational growth. Preceding Biogen, Theron worked for Genzyme building Biologic Manufacturing and R&D sites in the U.S. and around the world.

While at Genzyme, Theron led a new $120 million Antibody production campus in Lyon, France achieving the highest LEEDs and HQE (Haute Qualité Environnementale) sustainability ratings. He also successfully scaled up multiple small molecule manufacturing processes while on assignment in Haverhill and Maidstone, UK. In Flanders, Belgium Theron commissioned and started up a 10k Liter scale mAb production facility and in the U.S., installed a 1.1 Megawatt Cogeneration power plant in Allston Landing and built a LEEDs gold R&D headquarters in Framingham.

Theron holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern, a graduate certificate from B.U. in Biotechnology and Master’s degrees from Tufts University in Engineering Management and from Worchester Polytechnical Institute in Bioscience Administration.
