Sara Dionisi

Sara Dionisi joined Flagship Pioneering in 2023 as an Associate after completing the Flagship Pioneering Fellowship. At Flagship, she works with a team of entrepreneurial scientists to conceive, build, and advance the next generation of bioplatform companies within the Preemptive Health and Medicine Initiative.

Before joining Flagship, Sara earned her Ph.D. in synthetic biology from ETH Zürich. Her doctoral research involved developing non-neuronal optogenetic tools to manipulate cellular behavior during stem cell differentiation and to study resource allocation in mammalian cells. Sara is also a co-founder of TWIST Basel (Towards more Women in Science and Technology), an organization dedicated to supporting and empowering women in STEM.

Sara holds a B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Milano-Bicocca and an M.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences from Leiden University, where she received funding to complete her thesis at Christ Church College, Oxford University.
