Rahi Punjabi

Rahi Punjabi joined Flagship Pioneering in 2021. At Flagship, Rahi works to originate and implement AI-first ventures and capabilities and to explore novel avenues for innovation at the intersection of machine learning and biotechnology. He also helps develop and advance the company’s overall strategy to institutionalize and expand the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across Flagship and its portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Flagship, Rahi was a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he primarily advised life sciences clients on strategic and operational issues. At McKinsey, he collaborated with senior leaders in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies on a range of issues, including developing portfolio strategies for R&D organizations, embedding AI and advanced analytics into operations, and supporting product launches in therapeutic areas ranging from oncology to autoimmune and infectious diseases.

Previously, he conducted research at Harvard Medical School and the Broad Institute on machine learning and bioinformatics leveraging multimodal oncology data, leading to several publications.

Rahi received a B.S. in applied mathematics (magna cum laude) with a specialization in biochemistry from Columbia University, where he was an Egleston Scholar.
