Rachel Thomas

Rachel Thomas joined Flagship Pioneering in 2025 as Senior Director, Corporate Communications. In this role, she oversees and manages key corporate communications priorities, including digital communications, internal communications, and brand strategy, among other areas.

Before joining Flagship, Rachel served as Senior Communications Advisor and Director of Strategic Communications for Implementation at the White House, where she oversaw the Biden Administration’s communications strategies across a broad economic and domestic portfolio, including health care, education, infrastructure, semiconductors and AI, manufacturing, and clean energy. Prior to that, she served as Acting Assistant Secretary for Communications and Outreach at the U.S. Department of Education, where she managed a team of over 100 across media relations, digital communications, speechwriting, internal communications, and public affairs. She has extensive experience in corporate and political communications, as well as reputation management, and has advised senior leaders in various roles across the private and public sectors.

Rachel earned a B.A. in Communications and Public Service from the University of Pennsylvania.
