Phil Tinmouth

Phil Tinmouth joined Flagship Pioneering in 2025 as Partner and Head of GrowthCo Business Development (BD). In this role, he leads a team of BD professionals who drive business development activities across the Flagship GrowthCo portfolio. Phil also works closely with the GrowthCo BD team and company management to evolve and optimize BD strategy for Flagship’s portfolio companies.

Before joining Flagship, Phil served as Chief Business and Strategy Officer at Mammoth BioSciences. At Mammoth, Phil oversaw all business development and alliance management activities, and he also led the development of the company's strategy and the selection process for its initial pipeline programs. Prior to joining Mammoth, Phil was the Chief Business and Strategy Officer at Pardes Biosciences.

Phil held several leadership roles at Vertex Pharmaceuticals over an almost 20-year period. He was Head of Business Development and Alliance Management during his last eight years at Vertex, where he led Search & Evaluation, Transactions, and Alliance Management, and developed the company's BD strategy. Earlier, Phil worked at Bain & Company as a strategy consultant and senior engagement manager, focusing on pharma and biotech.

Phil received his B.Sc. Honors in Applied Sciences, Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
