Luc Cary

Luc Cary joined Flagship Pioneering in 2025 as a Senior Principal Software Engineer on the Agentic AI team within Flagship’s Pioneering Intelligence initiative, where he builds agentic AI systems and platforms that accelerate scientific innovation and company creation across the Flagship ecosystem.

Before joining Flagship, Luc was Associate Director of Machine Learning at Labcorp and Invitae, leading the ML Platform team responsible for production information extraction systems and cross-team AI/ML integrations. Earlier, he held multiple engineering roles at Twitter, working on CI/CD, code review, and performance monitoring systems. He led backend development for Columbia University’s student information systems and previously served as a research engineer at MIT.

Luc contributed to research at the intersection of programming languages and machine learning, including as a co-author on DreamCoder (PLDI 2021). He also speaks on practical applications of GenAI and AI safety.

He earned a B.A. & Sc. in Cognitive Science from McGill University.
