Leah Bloom

Leah Bloom joined Flagship Pioneering in 2025 as Chief Operating Officer, Product and Partnering. In this role, she leads strategy and operations across Flagship’s product R&D and partnering platforms, aligning Pioneering Medicines, Partnering, and Pipeline & Product Innovation to drive integration, operational excellence, and strategic execution across the enterprise.

Leah brings extensive and diverse leadership experience across the biopharma and life sciences ecosystem. Before joining Flagship, she was the Chief Operating Officer of a Polaris-founded, stealth-stage immunology startup where she built and led the business and translational capabilities. Prior to that role, she was Senior Vice President at AveXis / Novartis Gene Therapies, where she helped launch Zolgensma and expand a pioneering gene therapy portfolio. Earlier, she served as Vice President of Corporate Strategy at AbbVie, where she built and led a global strategy function to drive sustained top-tier growth. She was previously Chief of Strategy at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, advancing its venture philanthropy model for patient-centered innovation. She began her career at the Boston Consulting Group, where she served as a Principal, advising global biopharma clients on R&D and commercial strategy.

Leah holds a D.Phil. in Neuroscience from Oxford University and a B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Yale University.
