Kahealani Uehara

Kahealani Uehara joined Flagship Pioneering in 2024 and serves as a Senior Scientist in Metabolic Disease at Pioneering Medicines. As a member of the metabolic disease team, Kahealani focuses on advancing novel therapeutic strategies for obesity by elucidating mechanisms of action for high-priority targets. Working cross-functionally, Kahealani helps drive the progression of early-stage research into differentiated therapeutic opportunities and contributes to the development of anti-obesity programs.

Kahealani received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied and published in insulin signaling and molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes, MASLD/MASH, and obesity. Before that, she completed her B.S. in Biochemistry from Chaminade University of Honolulu.
