Emily Roberts

Emily joined Flagship Pioneering in 2024 as a Director of Immunology for Pioneering Medicines, where she leads discovery-stage programs in Immunology and Oncology in partnership with Flagship platform companies and external partners.

Emily brings over ten years of experience in biotech and pharma, holding positions at Genzyme, Sanofi and Takeda supporting programs of various therapeutic modalities in research and clinical stages. Before joining Flagship, Emily was a Principal Scientist at Takeda’s Oncology Drug Discovery Unit, serving in project leadership roles to support programs from pre-clinical discovery through clinical stages. At Takeda, Emily served as the scientific lead for all academic and non-profit partnerships and research collaborations. Prior to Takeda, Emily was a post-doctoral research fellow at Sanofi, where she supported target validation efforts for internal and partnered programs for therapeutic application in Oncology.

Emily’s scientific contributions in academic and industry work have resulted in publications including those in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, Plos Pathogens and Science Immunology. Emily has also served as a Grant Review Specialist for the Mark Foundation for Cancer Research and the Mass Bio Women’s Health Innovation Grants.

Emily received her Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Pennsylvania. Emily also holds degrees in Microbiology, both B.S. and M.S., from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she investigated T cells in health and disease.
