Dmytro Ustianenko

Dmytro Ustianenko joined Flagship Pioneering in 2022 as an Associate. In his role, he is part of a venture creation team developing the science, intellectual property, and business strategies that form the foundation of Flagship’s breakthrough bioplatform companies.

Prior to joining Flagship, Dmytro was a Blavatnik Fellow in Life Science Entrepreneurship at Yale University, focused on translating scientific ideas from academic labs into early-stage biotech ventures. During his fellowship, he worked with a portfolio of ventures and founders across multiple areas of biotechnology, including regenerative medicine, cancer therapeutics, and novel antibody-based drugs.

Dmytro holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Masaryk University in the Czech Republic. His graduate work was focused on post-transcriptional gene expression pathways and the molecular mechanism of novel RNA-degradation pathways. He completed his postdoctoral training at Columbia University investigating RNA-splicing pathways that are essential for motor neuron development and disease.
