Diogo Camacho

Senior Principal, Computation

Diogo Camacho joined Flagship Pioneering in 2024 as a Senior Principal, Computation, where he helps ideate and originate new bio-platforms through a data-science first lens, engaging with partners and colleagues across the spectrum of the origination process.

Before joining Flagship, Diogo served as Vice President of Computational Data Sciences at Flagship-founded Cellarity, where he led a team of computational biologists and machine learning scientists in the operationalization and continual advancement of Cellarity’s computational platform.

Prior to Cellarity, Diogo held roles in biotech and pharma, at companies such as Evelo Biosciences, Rheos Medicines, and Pfizer. Earlier, he served as Predictive Bioanalytics Lead at the Wyss Institute of Harvard and MIT. Diogo has published over 20 manuscripts in the fields of Computational Biology, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Bioinformatics, across a variety of subjects from network inference to synthetic biology. He has also been an inventor in a variety of patents tied to machine learning methods for synthetic biology, drug discovery, and organ-chips.

Diogo holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Lisbon and a Ph.D. in Genetics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology from Virginia Tech.
