Chi (Anther) Keung

Senior Director, Translational Medicines & Head, Clinical Pharmacology

Anther Keung joined Flagship in 2023 as Senior Director of Translational Medicines & Head, Clinical Pharmacology for Pioneering Medicines. He is responsible for building a clinical pharmacology function to execute on early-stage clinical studies and provides clinical pharmacology expertise to Flagship’s exploration process supporting the creation and development of new companies.

Anther brings broad drug development expertise to this role. He has been responsible for the submission of investigational new drugs and clinical trial applications and has helped secure world-wide approval of multiple medicines. He has extensive product development experience across different modalities (e.g., small molecules, peptides, amino acids, and biologics) and across multiple therapeutic areas, including metabolic diseases, oncology/immuno-oncology, and infectious diseases.

Prior to joining Flagship, Anther led and built clinical pharmacology departments for companies including Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, Cyclerion Therapeutics, Arvinas Inc., and most recently, Axcella Therapeutics. Early in his career, Anther worked in roles of increasing responsibility in large pharmaceutical companies, including Merck, BMS, Johnson & Johnson, and Sanofi.

Anther is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, American College of Clinical Pharmacology, Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He is a global healthcare volunteer for Timmy Global Health, and volunteers at Gifts to Give, a non-profit focused on community service and addressing child poverty and literacy.

Anther received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Connecticut and his bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Northeastern University. He is a registered pharmacist in Massachusetts.
