Caroline Houde

Caroline (Caro) Houde joined Flagship Pioneering in 2024 as Vice President, Portfolio Management and Chief of Staff for Avak Kahvejian’s Pioneering Business Unit, to partner with their team of scientists and entrepreneurs in launching and growing a broad portfolio of innovative platform companies.

Prior to Flagship, Caro served as a strategic and operational leader at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she developed and managed their first internal consulting and project management group. Most recently, she served as the Executive Director of the Emergency Medicine department, overseeing operations and finances.

Prior to her hospital management roles, Caro was with IMS Consulting Group, now IQVIA, where she consulted for big pharma clients on pricing, market access and real-world evidence strategies across therapeutic areas and global markets.

Caro started her career in drug development as a Senior Research Scientist at Merck, validating new targets and biomarker assays in cardiovascular diseases and oncology.

Caro holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from McGill University, which was conducted in partnership with Merck, and a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences and Microbiology from Université de Montréal. She also completed the Brigham Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
