Brendan Lehnert

Brendan Lehnert joined Flagship Pioneering in 2023, where he specializes in venture creation as part of Lovisa Afzelius’s Origination team. In this role, Brendan works with a team of entrepreneurial scientists to create first-in-class biotechnology companies and provide early scientific and operational leadership.

Before joining Flagship, Brendan was a member of the founding leadership team at Osmo, a digital olfaction company, where he was responsible for company-wide operations and led ML-guided molecular discovery programs. Prior to Osmo, Brendan was a software engineer at Trulia, where he helped build their online real-estate marketplace.

His work as a developmental and systems neurobiologist has been recognized by publications in Cell, Nature, and Science, and he is an inventor on multiple patent applications.

Brendan received a B.S.E. in Biomedical Computation from Stanford University, where he was a President’s Scholar. He earned a Ph.D. in Neurobiology from Harvard Medical School with the support of a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
