Aristofanis Rontogiannis

Senior Data Scientist

Aristofanis Rontogiannis joined Flagship Pioneering in February 2023 as a Senior Data Scientist in Pioneering Intelligence. At Flagship, Aristofanis applies state-of-the-art machine learning methods and architectures to molecular modeling, aiming to build robust and reusable pipelines for de-novo molecular design.

Aristofanis holds a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science and Engineering, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During his graduate studies, he worked as a research assistant in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) at MIT, under the supervision of Professor Regina Barzilay advancing projects such as HIV neutralization prediction using Deep Learning and TCR receptor modeling using Large Language Model embeddings. In his MEng thesis, Aristofanis explored ways to improve blind antibody docking via ML-driven B-cell epitope detection.

Aristofanis has received various distinctions and awards, most notably the Onassis Foundation Scholarship for Graduate Studies and three medals in the International Olympiad in Informatics.
