Amy Machain

Amy Machain joined Flagship Pioneering in 2022 as Associate Director of Contracts. In this role, she provides legal guidance and expertise to Flagship companies under Lovisa Afzelius’ and John Mendlein’s leadership, as well as to the Flagship Real Estate team, regarding the drafting and negotiation of various agreements.

Amy joined Flagship from Zealand Pharma US, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on metabolic and gastrointestinal diseases, where she was responsible for commercial, contracts, and compliance matters. Prior to Zealand Pharma, she supported intellectual property, contracts, and compliance matters at Sumitomo Pharma Oncology, a developer of novel cancer therapeutics and US based subsidiary of Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. Before she joined the biotechnology and pharma industry, she was a trust and estates paralegal at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C.

Amy received her B.S. from Quinnipiac University in Psychology and Legal Studies and her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
