Sophie Kim

Sophie Kim is a senior associate of business operations at Flagship Pioneering, focusing on operational excellence across several of Flagship’s companies, including Tessera Therapeutics, Generate Biomedicines, and Indigo Agriculture, where she is Chief of Staff to Founder Geoffrey von Maltzahn.

Prior to Flagship, Sophie was a management consultant with Boston Consulting Group, has held multiple positions within various political campaigns, and served in the Office of the White House Counsel under President Barack Obama. She also has worked in public health as a U.S.-Canada Fulbright Fellow researching access to health care for vulnerable populations, with the World Health Organization where she published on global pandemic preparedness, and the Rice 360° Global Health Institute focusing on interventions for HIV patients. Sophie is currently a Captain in The Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve where she works on matters of military justice, legal assistance for Service Members, and advises commanders.

Sophie has a J.D. and M.P.P. from Harvard Law School and Harvard Kennedy School, M.Sc. in Global Health Science from the University of Oxford where she was a Weidenfeld Scholar, and a B.A. in Biological Sciences and Policy Studies from Rice University.
