Kim Wagner

Venture Partner

Kim is a venture partner at Flagship Pioneering and president and chief operating officer of CiBO Technologies, a Flagship Pioneering company. She is a scientist, entrepreneur and business leader with over two decades of experience advising companies on strategy and operational improvement in the agriculture, food, and healthcare sectors, with an emphasis in technology, sustainability, research and innovation and new product development.

Previously, Kim was a senior partner and managing director at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). While at BCG, she held several management roles, including leading the firm’s Global Research and Product Development practice, which served clients in all industries on topics related to bringing new products and services to market while effectively managing the lifecycle of existing offerings. In addition, she founded and led BCG’s Global Agribusiness practice, bringing the firm’s expertise and capabilities together in a focused way to serve the unique needs of agricultural businesses. More recently, Kim was a partner at McKinsey & Company, where she served as a senior member of the Global Agriculture and Food practice. Kim’s accomplishments in client service have been acknowledged through multiple awards, including Consulting magazine’s 2012 Women Leader in Consulting honor.

Kim serves on the boards of several not-for-profits with agricultural, sustainability, and/or educational missions, and she is an active member of several national and international scientific societies. Kim and her husband produce award-wining wines and spirits as the founders and owners of Stoutridge Vineyard, a vineyard, farm, winery, and distillery in Marlboro, NY.

Kim holds a Ph.D. in biological chemistry and molecular pharmacology from Harvard University, an M.S. in animal science from Texas A&M University, and a B.S. with distinction in biology and animal science from Cornell University.
