Intellectual Property Counsel
Kelly Morgan joined Flagship’s intellectual property group in 2016 as an IP attorney. In this role, she aids in the establishment of intellectual property strategy and counsels Flagship’s enterprise of pioneering companies.
Previously, Kelly was a patent associate in the Business Finance Department at Saul Ewing LLP working out of the Boston and Philadelphia offices. She managed and prosecuted key patent portfolios in the U.S. and abroad for universities and biotechnology companies.
Kelly started her legal career as a patent agent and technical specialist in the Boston law offices of Pepper Hamilton LLP and Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP. While a patent agent, she worked her way through evening law school at Suffolk University, where she received her law degree with a specialization in intellectual property. Prior to transitioning to law, Kelly completed postdoctoral studies in the laboratory of D. Gary Gilliland, M.D., Ph.D, when he was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She also held an instructor appointment at Harvard Medical School, where she performed research on infant and childhood malignancies. Kelly obtained her Ph.D. in molecular pathobiology from the University of Minnesota.
In addition to her state bar admission, Kelly is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
