Senior Director, Project Management, Pioneering Medicines
Ben joined Pioneering Medicines in 2021. He is responsible for management of innovative projects by leveraging scientific and project management insights.
Before joining Pioneering Medicines, Ben worked at Spark Therapeutics, working on gene therapies for TPP1 (a lysosomal storage disorder) and Huntington’s disease. Prior to Spark, he worked at Upsher-Smith Laboratories, Shire Pharmaceuticals and Merck and Co. He worked in multiple therapeutic areas including neuroscience for indications such as insomnia, depression, schizophrenia, binge eating disorder, epilepsy, and excessive day-time sleepiness. In oncology, he worked on CML and GBM. In the vaccine space, he worked on a pneumococcal vaccine. He led and managed projects from discovery phase through BLA/NDA submission and also worked on life-cycle management.
In addition to development projects, Ben also led and implemented cross-functional initiatives, such as operating model, resource allocation, budget planning and monitoring, and new organizational processes (e.g. Stage Gate process) to support decision making by management and teams.
Ben earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and subsequently did his postdoctoral research at the Whitehead Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
